This is the site of the Uretara Landing which played a key part in the establishment of Katikati. Travel via the harbour and it's waterways was the most practical form of transportation for people and goods in the early years. A mural on the wall next to BNZ in the main street depicts the landing in earlier times. (c. 1900  )

The walkway meanders along the esplanade reserve, downstream past farm land and private gardens, with pleasant views of wetlands and Kaimai Ranges. The Park Rd reserve is reached at the end of the walk.
