Walking Time up to 45 min return
![]() |
This reserve is located on Loop Rd, off SH 2, just north of
Te Puna.
The land was gifted to the QE II National Trust in 1987 by Keith & Takiko I'Anson. It was their intention that it be transformed fro dairy pasture to native bush and remain so in perpetuity for the enjoyment of the public. Lake Taki was created by the damming of the waikaraka Stream and extensive native plantings have created a pleasant spot to visit for a picnic and walk through the reserve. From the carpark, where there is a picnic area and toilet, follow thw walking tracks either way around the lake through maturing groves of native plantings. The reserve continues downstream past more recent plantings to Armstrong Rd.
